Welcome to Bob’s Bed Bug Heater Rentals (BBBH-r)
We do not manufacture, sell or advocate on behalf of the professionals of the world. We would however be foolish not to listen to them. After countless hours of research and talking with different professionals in the pest control community, and the people who build and sell these products our only goal here is to try to bring affordability to a pesky problem and the first step in that is a DIY mentality. Please check out our entire website and if you are still left with questions feel free to shoot us a message! We actively update our lessons learned and take feedback from other DIYer’s as well and include that information for everybody.
Baseic Instructions and feedback from other DIY’ers
Safety Guidelines
• Never leave the equipment unattended while in operation.
• Maintain clear space around heaters at all times.
• Monitor room temperature to prevent overheating.
• Do not place heaters near flammable materials.
• Use only in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating manual. Basic Setup Instructions (General Equipment Use)
These are basic operational guidelines for safe and effective heat distribution. They are not pest control instructions, but general advice for achieving consistent room heating:
(So, you or your significant other is venturing down the world of do it yourself. Good for you! Below are must know some tips from myself, and even feedback from previous customers as well. Please read as if you want success this will help get you there.
Ambient Air Temperature is not the same as everything is 123 degrees. Different areas will have different temperatures, which is why you will have to focus in the direction or leave per room long enough so that ambient air temperature has encompassed entire room which is possible just takes time.
Fans can be plugged into the same room as the green heater plug (main on heater). Other plugs must go to other rooms for other breakers. Lights light up and they turn off when a breaker is tripped. Each line runs 8 amps so check to make sure you have 10-15 amp breakers minimum. If you have a 20Amp breaker you can run 2 of the 8 plugs on that breaker for a total of 16amps without tripping the breaker.
Do not leave shampoo bottles or soda cans or anything that can explode in treatment areas. Remove picture frames from the wall. You can leave in room for treatment just make sure to flip them over halfway through treatment.
Using all 8 heater cores (1 core per plug) Helps the heater reach temperature faster than using 6, or 7 of the 8 cores. Use fans to circulate motion of the heat around the room especially along baseboards and bed.
Move all furniture 6 inches away from the wall.
TVs and computers and such will be fine during treatment. Alarm clocks, vinal records, fish tanks, and other items that have specific melting or death temps do not need to be in treatment area. This includes any type of livestock, animal, pet, service animal, helper monkey, trunk monkey, or any living thing except any pest you are targeting for disposal. Hopefully you rented this in time before you started naming your bed bugs. I do not run a bed bug dog collar business.
Shut off the air conditioning system to prevent cool air from counteracting heat buildup.
Place heater along one wall of the room.
Position fans in each corner, circulating air in a clockwise motion.
Turn on ceiling fan (if present) to push warm air downward.
Cover windows with aluminum foil to reduce heat loss.
Keep all doors shut and place towels at the base to minimize air escape.
Close and tape over HVAC vents to prevent heat loss.
Section off larger rooms and tackle as smaller portions. Smaller areas reach temperatures faster.
DE can be great to use as well to help ensure not one escapes the room by chance by treating baseboards above and to the sides but use extremely sparingly. DE is not safe for human lungs. If you can see it down in a white power, you put down too much.
Do not put anything flammable in front of heater. Take down and leave curtains on floor at least or blow from a distance. The air is moving strong, fast and hot in that room. Don’t make your bedbugs airborne.
One renter stripped down to their boxers entering in and out of treatment areas after treatment just to help not track anymore in the treated area. They showered afterwards before going to a clean bed to sleep while treating the entire house.
Stagger dressers draw like a staircase starting from the bottom up.
Measure heat in crevasse. IE: Boxsprings are fine but if you have a slap that adjusts up and down heat room then angle mattress off bed exposing bottom and continue treatment.
Angle mattresses off the bed frame with the bottom exposed for better airflow
Keep all furniture at least 6 inches from walls and baseboards.
Remove and bag mats to avoid insulating cold spots.
Avoid using chemical sprays prior to heating to prevent pushing pests deeper into walls.
Each cable powers one heater core: four 110V plugs can heat approx. 400 sq ft
Distribute plugs across different breakers (different rooms, bathrooms, or hallways).
For larger coverage, combine all four 110V plugs with the 220V adaptor for up to 1,000 sq ft.
Temperature readings on the control boxes show air temperature—use a separate thermometer to check cool spots.
Target a minimum room air temperature of 122°F for at least 60 consecutive minutes; recommended minimum is 90 minutes to ensure even coverage, as this temperature range is known to be effective in killing bed bugs at all life stages.
The higher the heat, the faster consistent temperatures are reached—always observe manufacturers and household safety limits.
GFC protected outlets are ok to use with this heater.
Disclaimer:
Power requirements: DO NOT use this equipment in any structure with outdated power, including aluminum wiring, and push-in or screw-in fuses. This heater has 8 power inlets, each of which draw approximately 8 amps of power. Therefore, power requirements are (8) 10-15 amp circuit breakers, OR (4) 20 amp circuit breakers or a combination of (4) 10-15 amp circuit breakers and (2) 20 amp circuit breakers.
Please note: Electric bed bug heaters generally require one to several hours to reach kill temperatures (120º-140ºF); cold weather, poorly insulated rooms, vaulted ceilings, concrete walls/floors, and inadequate power supply may also impact the time required to achieve kill temperatures as well as the capacity of the heater. Please this use is intended to be used one room at a time or section off areas of the room if extremely large. This has heated rooms with 1000 SQFT with all 8 cores and proper fan placement along with techniques listed elsewhere.
Why do people choose heat to eliminate bed bugs? Heat leaves no residual smells or chemicals and will kill all stages of bed bugs including eggs. Operating temperatures between 120-140 degrees Fahrenheit are optimal for eradication. Whether you’re a pest control professional, hotel or homeowner, you can rest assured this package will get the job done. Bed bug heat treatments eliminate all stages of the bed bug life cycle, including the eggs. If you have not had success with chemical treatments or are looking for a faster way to achieve being bed bug free, this package is the answer.

About Bob’s Bed Bug Heater Rentals
Here at Bob’s Dead Bed Bugs “Heater Rentals” we saw a problem. A problem that actually hit us directly. I discovered (we caught it early in the infestation – Bed Bugs) late on a Saturday night and I dove straight into Google and AI on a topic I had no clue about. I bought a bunch of chemicals on Amazon to be delivered the next day – a Sunday. I felt filthy sleeping in that bed, and it was bought new 7 years ago. I had always heard only filthy people get bed bugs. To my shock I was now faced with them, and me and my wife were meticulously clean people. I had no clue hospitals have them, I knew hotels did, but I didn’t know they catch rides in your luggage and all these other ways. Even missing one will start a re-infestation. I kept reading everywhere that the heaters are the best route possible but that it is expensive. And looking at the systems, boy I can tell you they are. I spoke with a professionally licensed exterminator who said it was good I didn’t lay down chemicals and rented me a system for a day for over $300. I sucked it up and paid and wasn’t given any instruction but made it work. While I was still paranoid and worried and took follow-up precautions and monitored, these things do the trick. So, I went and found the best, most portable and safest units I could find and figured maybe it will pay for itself. As a former Army Staff Sergeant and Chief Warrant Officer, something stuck with me – $300 per day is steep. I kept reading stories of people who fought with them for years or just laid chemicals pushing them into walls, as the pest control guy told me, they will be back. So, I wanted to start something small and, while writing this, we are a startup and everything we make goes into buying more equipment for availability, paying off debt from this venture, and taxes. Eventually I would like to make this large enough to set up other veterans without franchise fees and even get to the point where we can finance the rental charge. I understand the true costs bed bugs will put you through. It’s not something to be judged on either – we all deserve dignity and respect. Even though we are for profit, it will be years before a penny is turned over in profit as growth and helping is our main concern. Maybe we can even get prices down and expand to more cities to help more people. Our units can handle large master bedrooms, whereas most rentals going for over a hundred more per day only handle rooms up to 400 square feet. We are not experts, but renters of equipment for the DIY person to handle their own problem with more affordability. We do take ID, verify addresses, and track serial numbers. We are here to rent out the expensive equipment so you can get a problem solved even on the weekend. Have a great day and we hope to hear from you!
